Listening is the Key~

“When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know.  But if you listen, you may learn something new”  DALI LAMA

Ever have an acquaintance or a friend talk too much?  It seems they like to hear themselves talk and expound on things they absolutely have no idea of.  You start to tune them out and not listen.  But sometimes, we tune out altogether and stop listening to just about everyone.  Not truly listening as we are busy with our agenda of the day and just nod or may even answer but have no clue what the discussion was about later.

Part of truly listening is being in the moment and giving undivided attention to the situation.  We may learn something along the way, maybe about the other person or even about ourselves.  Have a beautiful day and practice Listening!

  1. Thank you, for your comments, Otto~ The Dalai Lama is fascinating to me and so wise. I had read a book awhile back that was written by a journalist who interviewed him over a long period of time (when they could meet up). So it was written with a sort of question/answer format. Very interesting 🙂

  2. I listen to the ocean. It says, “Splash.”
I listen to the bird. It says, “Sing.”
When I have something to say, and I’m asked for chapter and verse, or a proper reference, I say a little bird told me.
And I hear a message relayed by the Mockingbird from some profound strollers. The Mockingbird tells me they said, “Blah, blah, blah, blah.” It loses something in the translation.

  3. Very nice, Doug! Thank you for adding this. I enjoy being in the outdoors whether just sitting on the deck watching and listening to nature or working in the garden and hear the birds chirping around me. Thank you, for stopping by to comment. Have a great day!
